Love is a universal language
Turning daily moments into timeless art is what my practice is all about. So last year when I received the following email from Kate and Ella in Vietnam I just knew I had to return. This was my opportunity to go back and say goodbye to Hien and give something back.
“We have an idea that we would like to have some portraits/photos taken of the carers and the children, highlighting their relationship. We would like to host an exhibition and raise funds for a memorial for children past present and future. We want to show that their life matters, even if it might only be a short life. I supposed honest…. that there is darkness, but not only darkness, there is also light..”
The photos I am sharing with you are to show you love in its different forms. These photos are real, raw and possibly a little confronting to some people. My intent is not to confront you, my intent is to show you that although their situation is less than ideal, there are shining stars, there is touch, tenderness and connection. To show you that the most simple needs in life are food, shelter and connection (IMO).
Take a moment to look at these photos for more than just a second; relate to them. Each capture has been purposely created because of the body language, the moment, the light or the relationship. I hope you too can see LOVE where I did.
