Almighty Jack Savage

It’s funny how life changes and good things can come out of the tough time.  Since the earthquake there has been an influx of Irish folk to Christchurch and now there is a new generation being born.  Dad is from Dublin and mum is from New Zealand.

These two are SO tenderly and completely in love and when I first met Wayne I knew I was in for a visual treat (yes he is incredibly handsome), but I also knew that he would pour love over Rowena while she as in labour.

I had received the call at 0150 and I was out the door at 0200, dress on, a spot of lippy and my gear all ready to go.  I took a photo of the time on my car dashboard and it was 0201…little did I know, that little Jack would arrive in an hour ON THE DOT! This was one super fast first birth!

I have often seen mums PAUSE when baby arrives, it must be a shock, that the journey is over and that baby REALLY is here.  I gently touched her on the shoulder and said “he’s here”…she melted and instantly said “Oh my gosh, he is too!!” and turned to see her boy for the first time.  I stood back to capture the magic that followed…

A beautiful highlight was hearing Wayne call his ma back home.  We could all hear her JOY at receiving that call..but as a mother I couldn’t help but feel sad that she wasn’t in the country to witness this very special occasion, so I knew right then and there that I would fast track this edit and get the photos to them within days.  So, after our FRESH 48 HOURS session I got to work and delivered the surprise…..oh the feels!!!

The phone call to Ma

The next day I met proud mum and dad at Burwood to capture their new family and show them the videos that were taken during the arrival of Jack.  (I love that we have this amazing technology to record these moments!!!)

Thank you Rowena and Wayne for allowing me to share your precious journey.  If you are expecting a baby soon, feel free to contact me to discuss an obligation free chat.

Again, I keep saying it….I ADORE MY JOB!
